Package Holidays Regulations

Many of us choose a package holiday looking for the peace of mind that comes from knowing everything is arranged by a trusted company. With your tour operator liable for all the services included in your package, under the Package Travel Regulations, any problems that might arise should be straight forward to deal with. But bear in mind, you may think you’ve booked a package holiday only to find you aren’t covered by these regulations when something goes wrong.
There are an increasing number of holidays available that appear to be packages, as flights and accommodation are included, however they don’t fall under the same regulations due to how they’re sold. Therefore you may find yourself struggling to resolve problems as the travel agent may not have liability for certain elements of your “package”. It should be made clear to you when you book if the flights and accommodation come from two separate providers but it’s easy to get caught out. Always check when booking so you know where you stand.
