Travelling with children

When taking a trip with children there is often a lot more that you need to plan and prepare for than if you were just going away with a partner or friends. The first point to consider is the journey to and from your location. If you are travelling a distance by car you should try and create some fun games they can play or ensure that they have something to do on the trip. Bored children can be quite hard work when you are all stuck in a car for several hours. Also ensure to plan in regular toilet / refreshment stops as this will give everyone a chance to stretch their legs before carrying on with the drive.
If you are stopping in a hotel / B and B, make sure that they know you have children with you and that the accommodation is suitable. Check what you need to provide i.e. travel cots, high chairs, bottle warmers etc and do not take for granted that they will have these items in your room.
