Should you book your holiday months in advance to get a better deal?

Usually holidays that are booked 12 months or so in advance are often cheaper than waiting to book it a few months before you want to go. Over time holidays tend to increase slightly in price due to inflation and the changes in flight prices, so booking your holiday in advance will secure the price you have seen advertised.
There are some things to bear in mind though when booking a holiday that far in advance. As much as you may like to plan ahead for the next year or two, unforeseen things can always happen and you never know what situation you will be in 12 months’ time. For this reason it is vital that you take out a good quality holiday insurance package that will cover you should you need to alter or cancel your holiday. If the holiday you booked is ATOL protected then that will cover you against cancellations that are out of your control but if you need to cancel for personal reasons then you may find yourself out of pocket if you do not have adequate insurance in place. Although an extra cost, insurance is a small price to pay for peace of mind.
